The New Gwadar International Airport is set to open on August 14, with a special flight from Karachi by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) marking the historic event. This airport, costing around Rs54.98 billion, features runways that meet international standards and can accommodate large aircraft like the Airbus A380.
As a major project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Gwadar International Airport is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and support economic growth in the region. It will be a vital infrastructure development for Pakistan’s growing aviation industry. Currently, only 4% of the operational section is incomplete, with the remaining projects expected to be finished by December 2025.
