Pakistani athletes Faiqa Riaz and Kishmala Talat have been eliminated from the Paris Olympics after failing to advance in their respective events.
Faiqa Riaz did not qualify for the next round in the 100-meter race as she did not finish in the top three in Heat 2 of the preliminary round.
The 100-meter race contest features four preliminary heat rounds, with the top three contenders from each round advancing to the next stage. Additionally, five athletes with the next best times also move forward. However, Faiqa’s time of 12.49 seconds placed her sixth in Heat 2, ending her chances of progressing.
Kishmala Talat competed in the women’s 25-meter pistol event and, despite high expectations, finished 22nd overall. Her precision series scores were 95, 99, and 99, while her rapid series scores were 98, 93, and 99, resulting in a total score of 579. This fell short of the top 8 needed to advance.
This concludes the Olympic journey for Faiqa and Kishmala at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Pakistan’s athletes have faced challenges at the Paris Olympics 2024, with swimmers Ahmed Durrani and Jehanara Nabi, along with shooter Gulfam Joseph, also being eliminated.
Pakistan’s hopes now rest on GM Bashir, who will compete on August 4, and renowned javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, whose Olympic journey begins on August 6.
